The Illustrators
Looking to the list of artists on the right, you will quickly notice that we specialize in women illustrators of the early 20th century. Dubbed the "Golden Age of Illustration", American illustrative art from 1880 to 1930 has proved a gold mine for pleasure and profit to all those who collected from this period. A primary motivation for our emphasis is that our proprietor, Edward Nudelman, has been collecting and dealing in this genre for over 25 years. Owner of Nudelman Rare Books in Seattle, WA (since 1979), Mr. Nudelman amassed the largest collection of the works of Jessie Willcox Smith in private hands (held now in the Special Collections Division of the Chicago Public Library) and is universally recognized as the authority of the works of this artist. Handling many originals by J.W. Smith, as well as sleuthing some forgeries, has laid for NFI a two-decade foundation of experience in authenticating and valuating artwork from this period.
